SALISBURY, Md. -- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said three Salisbury men are facing theft charges after they allegedly broke into cars and stole a loaded firearm.

It happened on Wednesday in the Rustic Acres neighborhood.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of people running through the neighborhood around 5 a.m. When they got there, police said they saw a taxi cab leave the neighborhood at high speeds.

Police pulled the cab over. Inside, police found Giovonte K. Fields, 19, Salisbury, as well as two 16-year-old boys. The Sheriff's Office said the three people didn't live in the neighborhood and couldn't give deputies a reason for being there.

Through their investigation, police learned that many cars in the neighborhood had been ransacked. Police said the three men were then found in possession of a large amount of change as well as a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

All of those items, police said, had been stolen from unlocked vehicles.

The three men were arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner. The two juveniles were charged as adults. They were all detained without bond pending a District Court Bond Review.
