Windy, Winter Weather Expected to Worsen on Delmarva

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Winter-like temperatures arrived Thursday to Delmarva, dropping more than 13 degrees in some areas compared to Wednesday. The wind chill didn't help either - some areas felt as cold as 19 degrees.

Meanwhile, many across Delmarva chose to stay inside away from upwards of 45 mile per hour wind gusts.

And if you weren't so lucky, you were forced to trudge through the wind, like Michelle Richardson of Cambridge.

"I work on two farms and it's kind of hard to get anything done with this much wind outside in this cold of temperature," Richardson said.

Despite the wind, the sun did show up, but forecasts say that won't last long - snow is expected this weekend.

For some, like Shaquon Jones, it's not a problem.

"I'm excited," Jones said. "I can't speak for everyone else but I'd like a winter wonderland."

Cambridge Public Works says they'll start preparing to treat roads if the forecast worsens this weekend.

On Thursday, OC Air Show pilots and their planes flew into the Wallops Flight Facility to begin practicing for the weekend events.

On Saturday and Sunday the beaches of Ocean City will be filled with people looking up at the planes overhead.

The 12th annual event is expected to bring in thousands of people, so Dirato recommends getting to the 17th street area as early as possible to get a good spot.
