Cellphone Sale Arranged Online Leads to Armed Robbery in Dover

DOVER, Del.- A man who thought he was meeting someone to buy a cellphone ended up being robbed in an apartment complex parking lot, according to Dover police.

Police say the robbery happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of Country Village Apartments.

An 18-year-old man told police he was waiting to meet an alleged seller from the "LetGo" mobile app to purchase a cellphone. 

The victim says he was approached by four men, two of whom were armed with knives. 

The suspects demanded the victim's wallet, according to police. 

One of the suspects allegedly struck the victim in the face, causing a minor injury to his mouth and stole the wallet which contained cash and other items. 

Two of the suspects got into a dark-colored vehicle and fled, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130.
