Updated: DSP Charges Salisbury Man in July Homicide Investigation

LAUREL, Del.- Delaware State Police have charged a Salisbury man who allegedly shot and killed and 18-year-old man in July.

DSP said Dwayne A. Dotson, 23, of Salisbury, is facing first degree murder and weapons charges.

The shooting happened shortly before 11:45 p.m. on July 9. According to state police, officers responded to the 200 building in Carvel Gardens Apartments for reports of a shooting. Once there, DSP said police found an 18-year-old Seaford man on the ground with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford before being flown to another hospital in critical condition. Police said he later died from his injuries.

State police said Dotson was brought back to Delaware Friday after waiving extradition in Accomack County, Virginia. He was arraigned and committed to SCI on a $1,060,000 cash only bond.
