MILFORD, Del.- The new Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus opened Tuesday.
The Bayhealth Sussex Campus is comprised of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus and Bayhealth Outpatient Center, Sussex Campus.
The Emergency Department at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus opened at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
"We redesigned the entire care process, how we give care, and I think that will be noticeable to both the patients and the people that provide care, so we're very excited," said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy.
The patient move from Bayhealth Milford Memorial to Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus started Tuesday morning and was expected to a day to complete.
The Bayhealth Outpatient Center, Sussex Campus will open to patients on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
"This is something we generally haven't had in this area. Working at our previous facility, it was a little smaller, so this offers new space and unparalleled level of privacy as well," said Sussex Emergency Department Medical Director Julianne Wysocki.
The hospital and outpatient center are 440,000-square-feet. The total property is 169 acres, which leaves room to grow in the future.
The hospital has 30 emergency department bays.
The hospital has 128 all-private patient rooms.
There are also 6 operating rooms and one interventional suite.
The Outpatient Center has a 20,000-square-foot Cancer Center, a specialty clinic with physician offices, and outpatient rehabilitation therapies and laboratory.
