Md. Gov. Hogan Calls for Va. Gov. Northam's Resignation

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has become the latest politician to call for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's resignation. It comes in the wake of a racist medical school yearbook photo that surfaced last week.

According to CBS affiliate WJZ, Hogan told reporters Wednesday that Northam's actions were completely unacceptable.

"The governor of Virginia should resign. It's completely unacceptable. I'm sure he's lost the confidence of the people of Virginia and I've been very clear," Hogan said.

The three Delmarva governors were supposed to meet for an unprecedented event at Salisbury University on Feb. 11.

However, the event has been postponed. The host of the event, the Greater Salisbury Committee, said having the event right now would have taken away from the conversation it intended to have. Organizers said the goal of the event was to promote bipartisanship. The GSC did not provide another date for the event.

Earlier this week, Delaware Gov. John Carney said he was "hopeful" Northam would resign.

Controversy continues to surround the Virginia statehouse. Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax has denied an uncorroborated allegation of sexual misconduct. Additionally, the state Attorney General, Mark Herring, acknowledged Wednesday that he had also used blackface during his college years.

The state's line of succession says that if Northam steps down, Fairfax would take over, then Herring. The next in line after Herring is the speaker of the statehouse, republican Rep. Kirk Cox. The race for Cox's seat ended in a tie and was decided when Cox's name was pulled out of a ceramic bowl.

OC Air Show Performers Fly Into Delmarva

On Thursday, OC Air Show pilots and their planes flew into the Wallops Flight Facility to begin practicing for the weekend events.

On Saturday and Sunday the beaches of Ocean City will be filled with people looking up at the planes overhead.

The 12th annual event is expected to bring in thousands of people, so Dirato recommends getting to the 17th street area as early as possible to get a good spot.
