REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Police arrested a Bethany Beach woman for her fourth driving under the influence of alcohol in Sussex County.
Rehoboth Beach Police arrested 39-year-old Jennie Martin after she was stopped for an altercation at Blackwall Hitch Restaurant.
At around 9 p.m., Rehoboth Beach Police were called to Blackwall Hitch for a report of a disorderly person later identified as Martin. Upon arrival, officers learned from the restaurant staff that Martin left the business.
After investigation, police learned that Martin was a former employee. She allegedly entered the restaurant trying to collect tax documents from the manager. Upon learning that the documents were not available, witnesses say Martin became disorderly yelling profanity.
When another employee attempted to walk Martin out of the restaurant, she allegedly punched him in the face.
Officers cleared the scene and began searching the surrounding area but police were called back to the restaurant as Martin returned.
When officers returned, they found Martin leaving in a black jeep. Martin was stopped by officers in the first block of Rehoboth Avenue and she was then taken into custody.
Police say they observed signs of intoxication when making contact with Martin. After a field sobriety test, Martin was arrested or driving under the influence.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a small amount of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia.
Martin was charged with a felony for a fourth-offense DUI, possession of marijuana, offensive touching, and disorderly conduct.
Martin was committed to Sussex Correction Institution in default of $4,750 secured bail.
