DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - A 2,000-pound Clydesdale horse that was rescued from a frozen creek and then his own stable in Delaware has been put down.

Owner Pam Collacchi says that Bubba was euthanized Wednesday.

The Delaware City Fire Company first met Bubba last Sunday, when he became mired in near-freezing mud after wandering 25 feet into a creek. After his rescue, he walked back to the stables, to where firefighters were again called the next day. Bubba had wedged himself into a corner and couldn't stand.

Collacchi said Bubba spent the day frolicking outside after his second rescue. But on Tuesday, he couldn't get up. The vet said he had no feeling in his hind legs and had suffered too much lung and other damage from being on his side.
