REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Changes could be coming to downtown Rehoboth Beach's business district.

University of Delaware students conducted an economic vitality study for the "Rehoboth Beach Main Street" organization. The study found that while 68 percent of all business owners surveyed felt positive about the future, many businesses on side streets felt like they were at a disadvantage.

The survey recommends adding landmarks and signs to draw in customers to side streets and to help businesses there. The survey also suggests stores have coupons that promote others in the local business community.

The survey was presented at Monday morning's commissioner workshop. Main Street Executive Director Karen Falk says getting more people involved is key.

"One idea was for us to hit the street in the summer and grab the tourist information," she explains. "Have the students take that information and create something for us in the fall but I think it's really important to go back and hit businesses harder the second time."
