Smyrna Man Arrested for Armed Robbery from Late January

SMYRNA, Del.- Smyrna police on Wednesday announced the arrest of  a man accused of holding up a delivery driver back in late January. 

Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Brown, of Smyrna, is charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. 

Police said that at around 8 p.m. Jan. 23, officers responded to a call on the 400 block of West Mt. Vernon Street for the report of an armed robbery. An investigation revealed that a delivery driver for Pat's Select was delivering food to the home at that address. The driver was approached by a man armed with a knife and wearing a mask. Police said the suspect demanded money and property, then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and ran. 

Detectives say they were able to identify Brown as the person who placed the order and then robbed the delivery driver. 

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Brown was ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $86,000 secured bond.
