Woodbridge School District Referendum Voted Down

Posted: Updated:

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Voters in Kent and Sussex counties who took to the polls Tuesday voted down a referendum proposed by the Woodbridge School District.

Woodbridge Superintendent Health Chasanov said the tax referendum was defeated, 753-642.

If it had been approved, the referendum would have raised taxes to allow $950,000 to fund operating expenses in the district.

The district says landowners would have had to pay on average $70-$85 more per year in property taxes, if voters had approved the proposal.

Chasanov said they will be developing plans moving forward in the coming weeks, but no decisions have been made just yet for the Woodbridge School District.
