SALISBURY, Md., - A Salisbury man was sentenced Thursday in connection to a home burglary that happened in 2017.

Richard Thurston, 59 of Salisbury, was sentenced to 29 years in the state's division of corrections. He was convicted on burglary and gun charges on January 23.

The charges stem from a home burglary that happened in 2017. According to the Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County, Thurston broke into someone's home in Pittsville in July of 2017. Authorities said he stole a safe, several guns, and ammunition.

He had previously been prohibited from having firearms, after he was convicted of first degree burglary in Harford County in 1997.
