Millsboro Police Installs Three New Security Cameras Downtown

MILLSBORO, DE.- The Millsboro Police Department has now installed three new cameras in the downtown area.

"These cameras give us a better look of the main street area," says police chief Brian Calloway.

The department got the funding through a grant last year and installed the three high-tech cameras on local shops in the downtown area.

"One of the cameras is on the Dollar General, the other one is on Antique Alley and the last one is on Gunshooter," says chief Collaway.

Calloway says that in the past, security cameras in other areas of the town have helped reduce the number of incidents reported. He hopes these new cameras have the same results.

"With other cameras that we have in residential communities, we have found to be very helpful," adds Collaway.

For some business owners in the area, the cameras provide a better sense of security.

"It think it's good for downtown and it's good for everyone," says Roger Perry, owner of Gunshooter.

Chief Collaway says the owners of the stores where the cameras were placed can also have access to the video 24/7.

"No matter where I am I can see the cameras on my cellphone," says Perry.
