DOVER, Del.- A 79-year-old Selbyville man matched five white balls for the Powerball drawing on March 2, winning $1 million before taxes, according to the Delaware Lottery.

The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased two Quick Pick Powerball tickets for the drawing from the Fenwick Island Goose Creek.

"I won $500 before, but obviously nothing this big," the man said.  "I checked my numbers on the website (delottery.com) the morning after the drawing.  I couldn't believe it."

After taxes, the man took home $760,000.

"This is the second $1 million winner from Delaware in just two months," said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. "A $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket was sold in Rehoboth in January."

When asked what he was planning to do with his winnings, the man said he's still deciding what to do - but for now, he's just happy to have it in the bank.

The man claimed his prize from Delaware Lottery headquarters on Monday.

The jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is an estimated $550 million, which is the eighth largest jackpot on record.

The cash option is an estimated $335 million.
