Updated: Woman, 80, Identified in Deadly Millsboro Crash

MILLSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Millsboro on Wednesday.

Just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling eastbound on Lowes Crossing Road near Pear Tree Road.

According to police, for unknown reasons the car exited the roadway and struck a large tree.

The driver was identified as 80-year-old Joann E. Smith of Millsboro. Police say she was properly restrained.

Smith was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. where she was later pronounced dead, according to police. 

Lowes Crossing Road remained closed for about three hours.

The crash continues to remain under investigation

    Smyrna Police arrested the alleged shooter of last week's shooting in the Sunnyside Village on Monday.
