LEWES, Del. - Delaware State Police said troopers arrested a Milton man Friday after he led police on a brief chase and was found to be in possession of crack cocaine.

It happened just before 7 p.m. in the neighborhood of Pinetown. State police said troopers were conducting a proactive patrol when they saw Michael L. White, 44 of Milton, driving on Pinetown Road. Troopers discovered he had been driving on a suspended driver's license and had three active capiases for his arrest.

White then drove down the dead-end street of Red Mill Road, where police tried to conduct a traffic stop. Instead of complying, DSP said White continued driving down the road and onto a yard before stopping, almost hitting a fence.

White then tried to run away but police arrested him.

DSP said troopers found approximately .68 grams of crack cocaine inside the car. White was charged with drug and traffic-related offenses as well as resisting arrest.

He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,500 cash only bond.
