Delaware Bill Would Give Out-of-State College Students Break on Price for Hunting Licenses

Posted: Updated:

DELAWARE - The number of people with hunting licenses in Delaware has been declining for decades, but lawmakers are considering a change they think might slow that trend.

A new bill would give out-of-state college students who study full-time in Delaware a break on the price for hunting licenses in the First State.

Buying a license is not always cheap, and can cost you more than $150 if you live in Delaware. If you're not from Delaware, it can cost you more than $400 to hunt in the First State.

Rep. Jeff Spiegelman said the change could make a big difference in Delaware and is among the lawmakers supporting the legislation.

"The difference between an in-state license and an out-of-state license is often the difference between hunting and not hunting at all, so I'm happy to get more out-of-state people the in-state rate," said Rep. Spiegelman.

The legislation passed earlier this week in Delaware's House.
