DelDOT Issues Updated Traffic Advisory

DOVER, Del.- The Delaware Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the following roadways are currently closed due to high water, downed trees, power lines, and/or road damage. 

Sussex County:

  • Airport Road from Old Hickory Road to Dogwood Road remains closed, but was expected to reopen later Monday afternoon.
  • US 13 southbound (one lane closed) from Boyce Road to Discount Land Road. The lane will remain closed for several days.
  • Camp Road from Seaford Road to Discount Road will remain closed indefinitely, as will Seaford Road from Camp Road to Discount Land Road.
  • Motorists are advised to drive with caution on roads, pay attention to barricades, and do not drive through standing water. If you see a flooded roadway ahead, turn around and take an alternate route to your destination.

    Smyrna Police Make Arrest in Sunnyside Village Shooting

    Smyrna Police arrested the alleged shooter of last week's shooting in the Sunnyside Village on Monday. Smyrna Police Department detectives took 28-year-old Cardin Qualls into custody without incident following investigation. Investigation revealed that Qualls and a victim engaged in a verbal argument on April 18 at the victim's home on Dairy Drive. The fight escalated when Qualls returned to the home with a handgun. Qualls then allegedly fired shots at the home.
