LAUREL, Del.- Parts of Delmarva were left reeling Monday morning after a confirmed EF1 tornado moved through the area overnight, causing significant damage in parts of Sussex County, Del.

Seaford Road in Laurel was one area that saw heavy damage. Power crews and fire officials were out early sorting through the tornado's aftermath, which included downed power lines, uprooted trees, and houses ripped a part.

Ryan O'Neal said he woke up to calls that a free fell on top of the house where his sister lived on Seaford Road.

"My sister was in the room that the tree feel on. She was stuck underneath some debris, but luckily we were able to get her out," said O'Neal.

The damage was just as bad next door at Craig Moore's house.

"Around 4 this morning, a horrific wind storm came through and all of a sudden, the side of my house just came off," said Moore.
