Selbyville Man Facing DUI Charges After Leading Police on Chase

Posted: Updated:

SELBYVILLE, Del. - Delaware State Police arrested a Selbyville man early Sunday morning after they said he was speeding and led troopers on a chase.

It happened in the area of Lighthouse Road near the Treasure Beach Campground around 2:15 a.m.

According to DSP, troopers saw a car speeding down the road, but the car wouldn't pull over when police tried to stop it.

State police said the driver led police on a chase for about nine minutes. Then, DSP said the Ocean View Police Department deployed stop sticks on Peppers Corner Road, deflating the car's tires. Police said the driver, identified as 47-year-old Gerald Lusby Jr., of Selbyville, then took off on foot through a wooded area, where state police in a helicopter finally found him.

Once Lusby was arrested, police said they determined he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with a DUI, among other traffic-related offenses. Lusby was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,612 secured bail.
