Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Del.- Smyrna police on Monday arrested a suspect in connection with last week's shooting in the Sunnyside Village

Smyrna police detectives took 28-year-old Cardin Qualls into custody without incident following investigation.

Investigation revealed that Qualls and a victim got into an argument on April 18 at the victim's home on Dairy Drive. The fight escalated when Qualls returned to the home with a handgun. Qualls then allegedly fired shots at the home.

Qualls then left the scene with a small child in the car who police say witnessed the incident.

Police say neighbors and witness accounts helped the investigation thanks to surveillance footage and statements.

Smyrna officers obtained warrants for Qualls home and car following the incident. But Qualls' wife, Tynequa Qualls, 30, attempted to not allow investigators from obtaining evidence. Tynequa Qualls was ultimately arrested.

Cardin Qualls was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, seven counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal mischief. He was taken to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $83,100 cash bond only.

Tynequa Qualls was charged with hindering prosecution and resisting arrest. She was released on her own recognizance.
