Frederica Man Arrested After Entering Seaford Home

SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police have arrested a Frederica man on assault, weapons, and drug charges.

According to troopers, Ronelle L. Jones (46) of Frederica, Del., with assault and weapons charges stemming from an altercation that took place in Seaford Saturday afternoon.

According to troopers, the incident occurred at approximately 4:31 p.m., Sat., May 11, on Middleford Rd., in Seaford, Del.

Police say they were responding to a call about an intoxicated man stumbling in the roadway. Upon arrival police arrested Ronelle L. Jones (46) of Frederica, after they found he had .48 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. Jones also admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking crack cocaine earlier in the day.

Further investigation determined that just prior to police arrival Jones he had been involved in an altercation with two male subjects at a home located in the 9000 block of Middleford Rd. The two males told police that they were in the yard of the residence when Jones, who they do not know, came on the property advising that he was looking for his sister. Witnesses say Jones then proceeded to enter the home before he was confronted by one of the male subjects. Police say Jones punched the male and when the male retaliated Jones took out a box-cutter knife and began swinging it at both males, before fleeing.

Jones was transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Menacing (2 counts)
  • Assault Third-Degree
  • Criminal Trespass First-Degree
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $74,500 secured bail.
