Harrington Man Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges

Posted: Updated:

HARRINGTON, Del. - A Houston man is facing drug and weapons charges after police reportedly found him carrying a handgun and found drugs in his vehicle.

According to the Harrington Police Department, patrol officers stopped a vehicle on South Dupont Hwy. for a traffic violation shortly after noon Tuesday.

Police determined the driver, Dontreze L. McDonald, 18, had an active warrant out of the Milford Police Department for Aggravated Menacing and related charges stemming from an incident in the Milford area the previous day.

When police searched McDonald, officers reportedly found a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband and drugs in his vehicle.

McDonald was immediately taken into custody along with a juvenile passenger in the vehicle.

Both McDonald and the juvenile passenger were transported back to the Harrington Police Department for processing. The juvenile was later released without any charges. McDonald was processed and charged by Milford Police with several charges relating to the incident in Milford.

Harrington Police charged McDonald with Carrying a concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and Speeding. Mr. McDonald was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 on both Harrington and Milford warrants.

McDonald was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $127,102 secured bond.
