'Delaware Grown' Week Kicks Off in Sussex County

Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delaware's agriculture industry is on display this week as part of a statewide campaign.

"Delaware Grown" week, launched by Secretary of Agriculture Michael Scuse, puts emphasis on the state's fresh produce and other locally-grown goods, including Christmas trees.

The fourth year of the campaign celebrating the state's largest industry kicked off at the Rehoboth Beach Farmers' Market on Tuesday.

"There's a whole lot of reasons to protect and preserve agriculture and make sure that it has a bright future, not just for citizens today but for generations to come," Scuse said.

Scuse says the agriculture industry is important not only for food but for creating job and keeping open space in the state.

New to the campaign this year is a website with recipes tailored to local produce and an interactive map to find Farmers' Markets. For more on "Delaware Grown," click here.
