Early Morning Crash Near Vienna Bridge Leaves Pennsylvania Man Dead

Posted: Updated:

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - Early Saturday morning a Pennsylvania family had just crossed the Vienna Bridge in Wicomico County before their truck overturned, according to Maryland State Police.

Police say 53-year-old Joseph Whipp from York, Pennsylvania was driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra when just after 6:30 a.m. the vehicle overturned off the right side of the road.

Whipp was later pronounced dead after being transported to PRMC in Salisbury for critical injuries, according to police.

Police say 44-year-old Rochelle Kay Whipp and an 11-year-old boy were also taken to the hospital from the same car.

Investigation into the crash is still ongoing, according to police.

Police say one lane of Route 50 in Wicomico County remained open during the investigation, but MDOT responded to assist with traffic control.
