Vandals Destroy Parts of Church in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- Vandals committed an unholy act at a church in Wicomico County.

Earlier this week, parts of Mt. Olive A.M.E.C in Salisbury were damaged. The community is confused after learning what happened to the church that recently opened its doors.

"I really go to wonder why after all things, I can't think of a single reason why anyone would vandalize this church," says neighbor, Nathan Cox.

Christian Johnson was recently appointed the church's pastor and reopened the doors at Mt. Olive A.M.E.C.

The church was inactive up until last month.

The pastor says they spent weeks beautifying the church which is why he believes this was no accident.

"Someone possibly noticed what we have been doing to make different changes and those changes have been to let people know we are here," Johnson said.

Johnson says the vandals also tried to get into the church not only by smashing the windows, but also by destroying the church's crawl space. However, the vandals were not successful.

Johnson says this unfortunate situation will not stop him from fulfilling God's will. The church will be open this Sunday.
