SALISBURY, Md.- A man is facing assault and related charges after police say he attacked another man with a baseball bat during a dispute over a dog at a Salisbury home.

Salisbury police said that shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, officers responded to a reported to the 1000 block of Bell Avenue in Salisbury for a reported assault. Police said the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Ian Christian Lundberg, of Berlin, and the victim, a 59-year-old man, got into an argument that turned physical.

Investigators said the two had been involved in an ongoing dispute over an issue involving a dog that had bitten another dog. Police said that evening Lundberg walked onto the victim's property and got into an argument with the victim, who was standing in the doorway of his home while in possession with a baseball bat.

Police said Lundberg forced his way into the home as the argument turned physical, at which time he punched the victim in the head and upper body before grabbing the bat and hitting the victim in the head with it.

Lundberg then fled the scene in what was described as a blue sedan, according to police. Officers immediately searched the area, but couldn't find Lundberg.

Police obtained a warrant for Lundberg's arrest and found him at around 1:30 a.m. June 7 in the 1200 block of Mount Hermon Road, where he was placed under arrest without incident.

Lundberg was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, burglary and trespassing. He is being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

The victim is being treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.
