CLAYTON, Del.- Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation after a vehicle reported as "suspicious" in Clayton turned out to have a body inside of it.

Police said the probe got underway shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday when troopers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Sudlersville Road for a suspicious vehicle in the middle of a yard, surrounded by tall grass in a rural area.

Further investigation revealed a body and hazardous material inside the vehicle, according to police.

Multiple agencies, including police, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control,  the Leipsic Fire Department, Hartly Fire Department, Little Creek Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene.

A first responder was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure, police said.

According to police, the investigation is in its early stages and remains active and ongoing. Sudlersville Road between Owls Nest and Downs Chapel roads is closed while the investigation continues.

There is no foul play suspected and nothing suspicious at this time, police said.
