REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested a Georgetown man after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife.

On June 13, troopers responded to the 20,000 block of Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach. Upon arrival, troopers met with a woman who said she and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Jerron D. Ricketts, got into an argument during the day. The woman said the dispute escalated when Ricketts allegedly threatened her with a large knife and damaging items in the home.

Further investigation revealed that the woman and Ricketts allegedly left the home to pick up the woman's three children from daycare, when another fight occurred. Police say Ricketts got out of the car and broke the passenger's side rear door handle.

Police say Ricketts then got back in the car and the woman, Ricketts, and her three children drove back home. This is when police were contacted. Troopers say Ricketts fled on foot before police arrived and was found a short time later at a neighbor's home. He was arrested without incident.

A computer inquiry revealed that the woman had a no unlawful contact order against Ricketts.  The woman was not injured.

Ricketts was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $63,500 cash-only bond.
