WASHINGTON, D.C. - Delmarva’s 2019 Jefferson award winner was honored in style Tuesday night in our nation’s capital.

Harlan Eagle was the overall winner from the region. He also represented the entire state of Maryland.

Tuesday night, he joined about 70 other winners from across the country at the national awards gala at the mayflower hotel in Washington, D.C.

WBOC’s Kimberly Wiggins joined him at the event.

Eagle has poured his heart into the healing power of fitness. He’s launched several charity runs, which benefit organizations on the Shore and also works with children in a summer program and ropes course that he runs.

Eagle also visited the offices of Maryland senators Chris van Hollen and Ben Cardin.

Organizing nonprofit, Multiplying Good, sets out to recognize people who go out of their ways to help their communities.

The Jefferson Awards have honored 62,000 unsung heroes throughout the country over the last four decades.
