Repticon Reptile Show Comes To Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md-People of all ages came near and far for the chance to see some slithering friends up close and personal.

This included everything from snakes, lizards, bearded dragons, geckos, spiders, cats and more.

"Every hour we have one of the vendors go up and talk about their specialty and they explain that animal and how to take care of it.," show manager Rayna Waddell said.

Not only do these vendors explain information concerning their animals, they also sell them, after first buying their table space from Repticon.

Many vendors today say the show, which ran on Saturday and Sunday was a major success.

"Most of the people will buy after the fact of meeting you in person, and they'll come to the facility or we'll ship all the way to California," Brandon Welch, a local vendor said.

This weekend was the first time the event has been held in Salisbury, and many vendors say it was a good boost to their sales.

Similarly, local people interested in these scaly friends say it was much more convenient than attending the event in years prior.

"This is the first time it's happening here. A lot of the local people that don't want to drive up the three hours to go to the Timonium or whatever can come down here, learn more, see the different types that are available," Rebecca Rossbach said.

Show runners say there were thousands of animals on display and hundreds of snakes.

Right now it does not appear as if Repticon will make its way back to Salisbury soon, but many are requesting it.

Right now, their next Maryland event will be held in Baltimore in late September.
