Campaign Trail Recap: Debate Anticipation, Proposals Boasted

FLORIDA (COWBOY/CBS) - Tuesday marks one day out from the first day of first Democratic Presidential Debate in Florida.

Monday, candidates began making their way to the Sunshine State hoping to stand out in a crowded field. Three candidates stood out with major proposals, all impacting the economy in someway or the other.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders announced a proposal to cancel all student debt in just six months. Sanders said it's, "Time to hit the reset button."

The proposal details money to erase the whopping $1.6 trillion debt would come from a Wall Street tax. Sen. Sanders said, "The American people bailed out Wall Street. Now it is time for Wall Street to come to the aid of the middle class of this country."

Washington Governor Jay Inslee highlighted his green thumb in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Monday. Gov. Inslee boasted his proposal to transition away from fossil fuels. Standing in front of a body of water, the climate change focused candidate stood said, "We're announcing a new freedom in America. And that's freedom from fossil fuels. Our very survival depends on our ability to transition off of fossil fuels."

Former Texas Representative Beto O'Rourke highlighted the needs of Veterans Monday in Tampa, Florida. O'Rourke proposed a "War Tax." It was include taxing non-military households to help the healthcare of veterans. O'Rourke discussed America's military placement in several countries abroad saying, "This is not making us more safe. We can diplomatically, non-violently, non-militarily achieve our foreign policy aims and keep America safe and secure."
