PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Maryland State Police say a suspect who escaped police custody while being transported to the Somerset County Detention Center has been captured in nearby Wicomico County.

Anthony Lowell Horsey Jr., 29, of Westover, Md., was taken into custody without incident at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Maryland State Apprehension Team. Police said Horsey was a passenger in a car traveling on Rum Ridge Road toward the Maryland/Delaware state line. He is being transported to the Somerset County Detention Center where he will be held without bond.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Horsey had been served a warrant for armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use during a felony and related charges. He was processed at the MSP Princess Anne Barrack and taken before a court commissioner who ordered him held without bond. At approximately 10:45 p.m. that same evening, Horsey was in handcuffs while being escorted to the rear door of the Somerset County Detention Center in Princess Anne, when he escaped from police custody.

Police from surrounding agencies assisted troopers in the search for Horsey, and the public was asked to be on the lookout for him while he was at-large.

Horsey faces additional charges as a result of the escape. Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
