Police: Man Under Influence of Heroin Charged With DUI, Vehicular Assault Following Dover Crash

DOVER, Del.- Dover police charged a 61-year-old man with driving under the influence and vehicular assault following a crash Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, John Stroud was driving eastbound on Loockerman Street in the westbound lanes, approaching South DuPont Highway.

Stroud's car reportedly entered the intersection, striking another car drven by a 46-year-old man. The driver was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Stroud had allegedly used heroin prior to operating his car. 

Stroud was released on his own recognizance, according to police.
