Delaware State Police Issue Scam Alert Advisories

DELAWARE-  Delaware State Police have issued scam alert advisories for the entire First State.

Troopers warn of scams that ask for gift card payments, say relatives have been arrested or in jail, or your say that computer has been hacked.  

Officers say other common scams are when a victims receives a call impersonating Publisher's Clearing House say they have won a sweepstakes, but have to pay a percentage of total winning for the prize to be released.

More sophisticated scams target businesses or individuals acting on wire transfer payments. Troopers say a business receives an email from a regular customer under a spoofed email domain. 

Troopers say some red flags of telemarketing scams are telling you you have won a prize, you have been specifically selected, or asking for your credit card information.

Police say if you suspect you have been a victim of a scam, to call local law enforcement or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers.
