USSSA Tournament Players Deal with Heat

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md--Even with the heatwave underway, this year's USSSA tournament kicked off Thursday. Temperatures in Salisbury got as high as 93 degrees and if you thought just sitting outside was out, imagine playing softball.

Athletic trainer, April Jones, is keeping her eyes on the players and others making sure no one suffers from any heat related illnesses.

"What I look for in players, is to make sure they're not going into heat exhaustion, some signs of that is when people stop sweating."

Some players say while indeed the heat is serious, it's not as bad as previous reasons.

"This season it really hasn't been so hot, the last season it was really hot."

Still, it's hot on the fields and players are doing everything they can stay cool.
