OCEAN CITY, Md.- A single engine plane went off the southern end of the runway and flipped over at the Ocean City Municipal Airport at around noon Friday.

According to Ocean City spokesperson Jessica Waters, shortly before takeoff the plane began experiencing engine issues and the pilot called the airport to announce an emergency landing.

Waters said that in attempting to land, the plane failed to stop on the runway and ran off the end, resulting in the plane flipping over.

The pilot was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Waters. She said Maryland State Police are investigating the incident.
