GREENWOOD, Del.- Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a motor vehicle accident East Market Street and US 13 where a car ran into a building Sunday morning.

Police say shortly after 11 a.m., a 2018 Tesla struck the Bay to the Beach sales office building.

A 31-year-old woman from Seaford was inside the building working at her desk when she was struck by the Telsa, police say.

Police say the Seaford woman was initially transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Christiana Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The 79-year-old driver was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the driver, a woman from Gloucester, Va., was driving westbound on East Market Street and approaching the intersection of US 13.

The driver changed lanes last minute in an attempt to turn left onto US 13.

Troopers say the driver accelerated crossing into oncoming traffic on East Market Street. The Tesla continued to travel south crossing both lanes of traffic on US 13, before hitting the building.

The intersection of East Market Street and southbound Sussex Highway was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
