62 Dogs and Puppies Flown from Mississippi to Georgetown Seeking Forever Homes

GEORGETOWN, Del. - 62 dogs and puppies from shelters in Mississippi are now resting up in Georgetown after a Saturday morning full of traveling.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA's 18th flight with Wings of Rescue took off from Starkville, Mississippi around 7:30 a.m. Saturday carrying 62 dogs and puppies. The flight touched down at the Delaware Coastal Airport just past 11 a.m. BVSPCA was there with a team of volunteers to greet them.

Shelter and Programs Manager David Owens says the organization is excited and ready to make room for the pets in Delaware and help out with overcrowding in the south. "Not enough spay and neuter resources there, so we're just definitely helping out with providing them with shelter here and getting them into homes," he says.

Owens says the pets should be adoptable at all of the SPCA's campuses starting on Tuesday.
