Wicomico Yacht Club Holds Boat Docking Competition

Posted: Updated:

EDEN, Md.- Some call it a water rodeo---others call it boat docking. Either way, the longtime Delmarva tradition took place Sunday at the Wicomico Yacht Club in Eden.

The event was the fourth annual boat docking event here --where many watermen competed against the clock to see who could dock their boats the fastest for a cash prize.

Jamie Marshall was a participant who says this event takes a lot of skill and focus.

"You got steering, you got controls, you got the tide you got the wind," he said. All factors that could make a difference in winning or losing.

Dean Murray with the Wicomico Yacht Club said, "The Chesapeake cowboys put on boat docking and it's so popular around this area."

Murray says nearly 600 people were in attendance last year. This year, they're hoping for much more.

Murray says nearly a dozen boats participated in today's competition. For more information on the next event, please visit http://www.chesapeakecowboysboatdocking.com/schedule
