Police Arrest Robbery Suspect in Dover

DOVER, Del.- Dover police have arrested a suspect in connection with weekend assault and robbery.

Police said that right before 8 p.m. Sunday, July 28, a 55-year-old man was approached by 18-year-old Dajuan Merrell and four other male suspects in the area of Collins Drive and New Castle Avenue in the Capital Green Neighborhood. Police said the suspects assaulted the victim and stole his Schwinn bicycle.

The victim suffered minor injuries from the assault, according to police.    

Shortly after the incident, Merrell was identified and detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Merrell turned himself in to the Dover Police Department and was released on his own recognizance with charges relating to robbery, assault and conspiracy.
