Two Women Arrested for Blades Robbery, Assault

BLADES, Del.- Delaware State Police say troopers have arrested two women in connection with a robbery during which they sprayed the victim in the eyes with a chemical and took his wallet.

The incident occurred on July 27 shortly before noon., when toopers were called to a home in the 8000 block of Concord Road in Blades for a report of a robbery

A 50-year-old man told troopers two women had come to his home demanding money. 

The victim told police he knew one of the women,  Nicole B. Griffith, 30, of Laurel, and that she has continued to ask him for money, claiming to be the mother of one of his children. 

Griffith and the other woman, who was later identified as Jamie E. Hawkins, 24, of Seaford, proceeded to spray the victim in the eyes with a chemical, causing his eyes to burn and swell, according to police.

The two suspects then reportedly struck the victim and one of the women reached into his pockets and removed his wallet. 

The women were able to flee the area with the wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash. 

The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated and cleared on scene by medical personnel.

On Thursday, Griffith and Hawkins were taken into custody at the Sunrise Motel located at 22512 Sussex Highway, Seaford, without incident.  They were transported back to Troop 5 where they were charged with the following:

  • Robbery First Degree
  • Assault Second Degree
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Theft
  • Offensive Touching
  • Criminal Trespass

Griffith and Hawkins were arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and both committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $63,150 cash only bond.
