Man Injured, Pets Perish in Queen Anne's Co. House Fire

STEVENSVILLE, Md. - A man has suffered second degree burns in a fire that destroyed a Queen Anne's County home Sunday night.

 According to the State Fire Marshal's office, the fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m at 807 Chesapeake Drive in Stevensville.       

Fire crews from the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department had the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Investigators say it appears the fire started in the interior of an attached garage.

A man who lived in the home suffered burns to both hands and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment.

Three family cats perished in the fire.

Damaged to the home and its contents is estimated to be at least $325,000.

The cause remains under investigation.
