WWII Veterans Meet Face-to-Face for Special Surprise

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - World War II veterans John Billings and Tom Creekmore met for the first time after being pen pals for the past four years.

Captain John had no idea he was meeting Tom on his 96th birthday. They caught up with each other and talked about their time as bomber crew members during the Second World War.

"1945, I was the the end when they stopped the heavy bombing. I had 19 missions and they quit the heavy bombing," said Creekmore.

"At the moment, I didn't know the war was over. They waited until we were an hour out of Naples in the Mediterranean and they came over with the loud speaker," said Billings.
