Smyrna Police Make Arrests in Overnight Home Burglary

SMYRNA, Del. - Smyrna Police said two people have been arrested after the pair allegedly broke into a home overnight and stole electronics. 

It happened Monday night at a home on the 200 block of East Mt. Vernon Street. According to police, two people got into the home and stole items, including electronics, from a bedroom. 

Smyrna PD said they identified two people in connection with the incident: 35-year-old Tiffany Burkett and 38-year-old Michael McCurdy, both of Smyrna. Authorities said they were found walking downtown. They were arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen items. Police also said McCurdy had illegal prescription pills.

McCurdy faces burglary and theft charges. He was arraigned and released. Burkett suffered unrelated medical issues while in custody and was taken to an area hospital. Police said she faces similar charges upon her release from the hospital.
