SALISBURY, Md. - The National Folk Festival is just around the corner, and the city of Salisbury wants to make sure people know ahead of time which roads will be closed for the event.

According to the city, many of the roads will close on the morning of Sept. 6, the first day of the festival. Barriers will be put in place at 6 a.m. that day, so any cars left within the festival limits will have to be moved. On that same day, Mill Street at Route 50 as well as the intersection of Riverside, Carroll and Mill will all close at 6 a.m.

There are a handful of streets that will close in advance of the festival. Those include the following:

  • Sept. 3: North Division Street from Main Street to Route 50 will close at 6 a.m., and reopen Sept. 9 at noon.
  • Sept. 4: Market Street from Camden Street to Circle Avenue will close at 6 a.m., and reopen Sept. 9 at 1 a.m.
  • Sept. 5: Main Street from Court Street to Division Street will close at 6 a.m., and reopen Sept. 9 at 1 a.m.

The city also says parking lots will be closing in a rolling fashion in the weeks following the festival.

For any additional questions about parking as well as road and lot closures, contact the Office of Business Development.

The National Folk Festival attracts thousands of people to the area. It's free to attend. It runs from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8, and includes a weekend full of music, crafts, food and more. For a full schedule and list of events, visit: https://nationalfolkfestival.com/
