WYOMING, Del.- Authorities have released the name of a man struck and killed by a car in Wyoming, Del. on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as 78-year-old David Rabenold, of Wyoming Del.

Delaware State Police said that shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Bradford J. Husfelt, the driver of a blue Dodge Neon, was trying to pass the car in front of him on the right before driving up onto the sidewalk.

Troopers said Husfelt, 26, continued to drive partially on the front lawn of a home on Front Street toward North Layton Avenue before hitting Rabenold, who was walking on the sidewalk.

Responding troopers said Husfelt continued to drive away from the scene.

Troopers found the blue Dodge Neon at Husfelt's home under a car cover at the 100 block of Center Street in Wyoming.

Husfelt was taken into custody where a DUI investigation began, according to police.

Rabenold was taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he died from his injuries, according to troopers.

Husfelt is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $58,650 cash only bond. He faces numerous charges including driving under the influence of drugs and manslaughter.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
