Crisfield High School Nurse Arrested on Child Sex Charges

Samantha Marsh

CRISFIELD, Md.- A woman who pleaded guilty to performing sexual acts on three students from Crisfield High School & Academy while employed as the school's nurse was sentenced to six months behind bars Tuesday.

Thirty-three-year-old Samantha Marsh was also ordered by a Somerset County Circuit Court judge to register as a Tier 1 sex offender.

In late July, Marsh waived her right to a jury trial, confessing to her actions with three 17-year-old students and pleaded guilty to three fourth-degree sex offense charges.

Crisfield High School Parent Matt Lankford says the decision is disheartening.

"I don't know what an appropriate sentence would be, but I know this, she didn't get enough time," Lankford said.

Lankford says the court system needs to serve tougher sentences for these types of actions.

"Just the few months that she has to serve, again, it's not deterent for anybody else. I mean you've got people in the schools that this is happening more and more all the time," Lankford said.

Somerset County Superintendent Dr. John Gaddis told WBOC on Tuesday that he respects the court's decision and is glad this unfortunate situation has come to a close.

Neither Marsh's attorney or the Somerset County State's Attorney wished to comment on Marsh's sentencing.

Marsh was originally charged in February with 19 offenses for alleged sexual acts with four high school students in the back of her van at various locations in Crisfield. As a part of the plea, Marsh could have faced up to three years in prison.

Marsh will begin her sentencing next Wednesday.  After that she will be on probation for three years.
