Traffic Stop Leads to Drug, Weapons Charges for Dover Man

MAGNOLIA, Del.- Delaware State Police say troopers arrested a Dover man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and weapons.

The incident happened Tuesday shortly before 10 p.m. when troopers saw a Subaru Legacy traveling westbound on Walnut Shade Road in Magnolia, swerving outside its lane.. 

Police say when troopers stopped the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was detected and troopers observed firearms in plain view in the back seat of the vehicle. 

The driver, Christopher M. Foraker, 32, was detained without incident, according to police.

Foraker was reportedly found in possession of approximately 0.19 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a computer inquiry revealed that he was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.

A search of Foraker’s vehicle was conducted and the following was located:

  • A 6.5 Grendel rifle
  • A .22 caliber rifle
  • Approximately 28.71 grams of marijuana
  • Numerous caliber rounds
  • Drug paraphernalia

Foraker was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Who Also Possesses a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Failed to remain within a single lane

Foraker was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,102 secured bond.
