Security Walk-Through for Folk Festival

Posted: Updated:
SALISBURY, Md.- Before the big crowds gather for the National Folk Festival, a different kind of crowd met at the festival grounds in Salisbury.

On Wednesday, law enforcement and city officials examined the site to ensure it's safe and ready for this weekend's crowd.

Salisbury Fire Chief John Tull says it's important to do as much examining now before the festival.

"We want to make sure that all safety precautions are taken into consideration, that tents are erected properly," Tull said.

Other safety precautions include creating paths for pedestrian access to avoid overcrowding. There will also be increased police patrols and barriers throughout the festival grounds.

"You see in the past there have been vehicles that come into large crowds, so the barriers are designed to keep the people that are inside the footprint of the folk festival safe," Tull said.

Creating a safe place for this weekend, one step at a time.
